My story

Kellie Lager
Artist, Designer, and Maker

I’m a Minnesota wood artist living in the Twin Cities. I balance a full-time job at a vet hospital (puppies and kittens everywhere!) with making art out of my parents’ garage. My dad pretends not to be thrilled, then turns around and buys me tools. Basically, I’m always covered in sawdust, and my two favorite games are “Is that paint or a bruise?” and “Oh crap, am I bleeding again?”. Needless to say, I have a whole drawer in my cabinet devoted to wound care.

When it comes to making things, I’ve had multiple jobs that handed me power tools and chainsaws and told me to get after it! Which I did, with vigor. In a field dominated by men, however, I missed the more feminine side of the world. I've devoted my artistic talents to marrying those two sides: the stereotypical masculine traits of woodworking and the beauty of the feminine in nature.

Little did I know that it would turn out to be the kind of passion that has me getting up at 4 a.m. and working until I have to ask myself, “When was the last time you consumed something that wasn’t coffee?”

I’m making new pieces all the time, so check back every so often! If you like my work but don’t see something that really strikes your fancy, I’m happy to design custom pieces. Click here to message me and get the ball rolling!
